Your talk and puppetry show were both fascinating. The discussion of the background of puppetry and the kinds of things you do was fascinating, and your effort in following pattern and giving us a show in rhymed dialog can’t help but have taken up a lot of preparation time… and the result was spectacular. We wish you and New Bern Puppets an exceptionally bright future.

New Bern Puppets has never failed us in its excellence

New Bern Puppets has never failed us in its excellence. As an invaluable part of special events at our museum, Dennis has always been pleasant, flexible, and easy to work with. After asking New Bern Puppets to perform at our event, we exchanged a few short emails with Dennis in which he included helpful reference photos of their set-up and a synopsis of what we’d receive. New Bern Puppets provided all the helpful details, and our booking was simple and hassle free.

New Bern Puppets delivered a product that was peerless and unrivaled – a delightful puppet show that charmed and enraptured audiences of all ages.

Visitors were delighted

Dear Bill McCrae,

We recently held two nights of our Christmas by Candlelight event at Duke Homestead State Historic Site. As you know, planning responsible events to be covid-safe and to comply with ever-changing departmental and divisional restrictions at our historic sites the past two years has been a logistical nightmare. When we initially set out to plan our Christmas event, we were afraid of losing some of the magic and atmosphere that our visitors pay to enjoy every year, because of the covid restrictions (and then an outdoor burn ban!!). We needed to come up with some alternative stations for 2021.

We were extremely fortunate to have crossed paths with Dennis Listermann-Vierling! He wrote a short script and performed a marionette show as one of our outside stations this year, performing every 10 minutes for full groups as they toured the property. Visitors were delighted. People are still telling us how much they they enjoyed his puppet show! Even our tour guides stayed down on site longer to watch the marionettes multiple times. Dennis did a fantastic job.

Additionally, Dennis and his partner Keith had such positive and uplifting attitudes. They arrived in good spirits, and happily rolled with whatever changes we needed to make. Dennis was such a pleasure to work with, and we are thankful he was able to take some time away from Tryon Palace to participate in our special holiday events this year. We could not have kept the magic of our Christmas events without his addition. Thank you for letting us borrow him! His talents are always welcome here at Duke Homestead, and we hope to invite him back next year. Best wishes for a happy holiday season!

Warm Regards,
