Today, Wednesday, July 30th, New Bern Puppets had a double-header. We presented the show “The Wrath of the Three-Headed Dragon” at libraries in Selma and Kenly, North Carolina. A long day, but it was a joy seeing the happy faces of children enjoying the magic of puppetry.
Due to the number of children, our show in Selma was shifted to the city’s Civic Center. Our stages in Selma were set up on a spacious platform.

The audience started gathering for the puppet show which was scheduled for 10:00 A.M.
In Act I a maiden hears the approach of the dragon. She runs and hides. The three-headed dragon soars in creating destruction and mayhem.

The King is sorrowful after learning about the most recent attack of the dragon, who has kidnapped a young maiden. This marked the debut of our newly acquired Pelham Merlin marionette.
The king’s son Cedric volunteers to rescue the maiden and slay the dragon. Cedric wounds the dragon but the maiden Gwendolyn urges him to show mercy. The dragon is released and flies off after promising not to bother humans anymore.

Cedric wins the hand of Gwendolyn.
The second show, scheduled for 2:00 P.M., was held at the Kenly Public Library.
Before the show Dennis gave a talk about puppetry. After the performance children were allowed to hold and handle puppets as well as have photos taken.
